Vidgo Review – Features

Vidgo can be watched on iOS, Android, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, web browsers, and Chromecast. You’re also allowed to watch it on up to three devices simultaneously.

The streaming quality is up to 1080p Full HD, lower than many alternatives that offer 4K Ultra HD but still enough to provide a great experience.

Vidgo has recently implemented the DVR feature (Digital Video Recorder). It allows you to schedule a recording of a program airing on a streaming channel and play it back whenever you want.

However, since it’s a new feature, it’s not available on all devices and is currently limited to Firestick, Roku, Google TV, and Apple TV.

In case you forget to schedule, you can still catch up on your missed shows with the Advanced Playback feature. It’s available on most popular channels and allows you to watch a show or event up to 24 hours after it was aired.

There’s also the TV Everywhere feature, which allows you to access some of the channels’ network apps without having to create another subscription. Those apps also give you access to extra channels that aren’t covered on Vidgo’s plans.

Vidgo reviews from real users

Users on review sites including Amazon have praised the number of live TV channels available, especially for sports fans. They’ve also highlighted the value for money as Vidgo costs less than most alternatives while still offering a larger channel selection.

Something else that pleased many was the in-app experience. That’s great considering that one of the main purposes of a streaming service is to allow you to watch live TV and on demand content from mobile devices on the go.

Customers were also happy that prices have been kept stable over time, with fewer increases than in other streaming services.

And finally, many highlighted how much better the overall experience was when compared to traditional cable TV services.

When it comes to critical reviews, some customers complained about the lack of a few local news channels. A customer from Nashville, for instance, reported he was able to access his local ABC and FOX affiliates but not NBC or CBS.

Many also suggested that the company should increase its 20-hour DVR storage, as many alternatives offer longer and sometimes unlimited storage periods.

Vidgo Review – How it compares to alternatives

Vidgo Review

Vidgo differentiates itself from alternatives due to the number of live TV channels it gives you access to and its lower pricing.

When compared to Hulu, fuboTV, and Sling TV, its three most popular alternatives, Vidgo offers more channels than all of them and is only more expensive than the last.

It also doesn’t contain ads, which are becoming increasingly popular among streaming services as a way to offer more economical plans, although most of them are still more expensive than Vidgo’s.

Take Hulu, for instance.

Its basic Live TV and VOD plan comes with a bit more than 80 channels and starts at $69.99 per month with ads and $75.99 without. Vidgo’s Plus Package, on the other hand, starts at $59.95, doesn’t contain ads, and gives you access to over 110 channels.

Vidgo is also one of the few streaming services that offer a plan with only Spanish channels, which comes down much cheaper at $39.95.

Finally, we can’t forget to mention the large number of national and local sports channels available, making it perfect for sports fans.

Vidgo Review

Its biggest disadvantage is the smaller on demand library. While it has over 10,000 hours of content, that’s way behind the 40,000+ hours offered by Hulu and Netflix.

However, it’s important to note that this service is much younger than most of its competitors, and, considering it’s adding over 100 hours of new content daily, it could catch up pretty soon.

Other downsides include the low DVR storage, limited to 20 hours, and the absence of a few local channels as reported by users.

Vidgo Review – Pros & Cons

Vidgo PROS

  • No ads on all plans
  • Large number of channels
  • Affordable pricing
  • Ideal to watch sports
  • Mobile-friendly

Vidgo CONS

  • Low DVR storage
  • Fewer on demand options than alternatives
  • Lacks a few local news channels
